Next Star Wars movie: High Republic theory says a forgotten villain returns

Abeloth also sent out a call through the Force, forcing Ship, a Sith Meditation Sphere, to travel to her planet in the Maw. Meanwhile, Skywalker and his son, Jedi Knight Ben Skywalker, were attempting to retrace the steps that Jedi Knight-turned-Sith Lord Jacen Solo had taken on his five-year journey after the Yuuzhan Vong War. The Skywalkers found the Mind Walkers and learned how to go beyond shadows, where Skywalker saw Abeloth in the Mists of Forgetfulness across the Lake of Apparitions. Referred to by the Mind Walkers as the “Lady in the mists,” Abeloth beckoned Skywalker to try to talk to her, but he refused. Force Lightning is an ability that enables the user to unleash blasts of electricity from their fingertips.

They successfully escaped Kesh, and upon their rendezvous, Abeloth ordered Khai to lead the Jedi and Sith who would inevitably attempt to find her astray. Her planned ambush for the Jedi failed, however, as the station’s inhabitants decided instead to try and capture the vessel. Meanwhile, on Nam Chorios, Abeloth recovered and gained control of the Theran Listeners by consuming and possessing their leader, Nenn. As her influence over the Theran Listeners steadily grew stronger, Jedi Knights Valin and Jysella Horn—two of the first Knights of the New Jedi Order to fall prey to her influence—were drawn by her to the world.

The Killik Thuruht hive referred to Abeloth as the Bringer of Chaos, whose escapes and re-imprisonments formed a cycle of chaos and destruction that occurred whenever the Current of the Force—the flow of time— was altered. Abeloth thrived on fear and doom, fanning the flames of conflict every time she escaped and sending the galaxy into chaos and turmoil. Each time she escaped, the Son and the Daughter would return to the Killiks and defeat Abeloth, locking her back in her prison. This cycle would repeat itself for hundreds of thousands of years until the death of the Ones in 21 BBY.

Luke took a few stabs at defeating her, finally allying himself with the Sith to try and take her down. But even when Luke thought he’d killed her, she’d always reappear and cause new trouble, like getting herself elected ruler of Coruscant. Abeloth lived with the Ones for many years, helping to keep the peace between them and even becoming part of the family, known as the Mother. Star Wars has more than forty years of lore, both in the canon movies, TV shows and new books as well as the non-canon books formerly known as the Expanded Universe and now called Star Wars Legends.

Unlike standard electricity, Force Lightning also drains the life force of its victim. Force Drain is a powerful Dark Side ability that enables the user to siphon the life force of a victim. If Abeloth were to return to canon (remember the black hole prison!), she’d have to be so de-powered that hard core fans might consider it a betrayal. Luke was a hero because he faced down odds that were overwhelming but not impossible. She was also able to control the Meditation Sphere Ship which was programmed to obey the strongest will; her powers overwhelming those of the Sith’s and of the Jedi’s attempts to control the Sphere.

Music freeride black metal, as they take no boundries in discovering the vast soundscapes of black metal and other surrounding extreme and alternative genres. Abeloth’s reign eventually came to an end with the Liberation of Coruscant. Using Dorvan as her aide, she solidified her rule on the planet until the Jedi began striking at the Lost Tribe across the planet. Realizing that the Sith would be unable to maintain their hold on Coruscant, and also seeing the opportunity to recreate her family, she abducted Vestara Khai and Ben Skywalker.

Abeloth spun Tahiri around, and she found herself looking into a monstrous face-a face so consumed by Force energy it barely looked human. What little flesh remained had turned as gray as ash, and it was peeling away in flakes the size of thumbnails. The nose had collapsed into open cavities, and the lips had withered into brown strips that looked like they might fall off any moment. Abeloth is an incredibly powerful and prodigious Force wielder, and is as a result, a greater opponent than the Lost Tribe of the Sith. With all that in mind, it’s a clever theory that could ultimately work to assimilate forgotten Star Wars lore with current continuity. While Lucasfilm has said there would not be a movie based on The High Republic books, it’s always possible to introduce Abeloth in live-action in future Star Wars projects.

With the Father distracted by his warring children, the Mother snuck a drink from the Font of Power, like the Son had done years before her. She also bathed in the Pool of Knowledge, just like the Daughter before her. With the main focus of the Star Wars universe being on the fight against the Jedi and Sith, a lot of fans do not know much about some of the other terrifying characters out there. Abeloth is one of the most powerful and most dangerous Dark Side users ever to be created. When they were no longer able to help, Jedi and Sith had to basically work together side by side to stand a chance. Abeloth’s strength physical augmentation was a dozen times that of Luke Skywalker, who was widely recognized as the most powerful Force user in the galaxy.

According to the Thuruht Histories, the Gree species came to her planet during one of her escapes to sacrifice an unknown saurian species to Abeloth. But as the years went by, the Mother began to age while her family remained ageless. In her old age, she could no longer control the Son and Daughter’s rivalry, and she began to fear that her family would abandon her. So to hold onto the life she had, the Mother decided to commit the Forbidden.

Ultimately Abeloth took the form of Senator Rokari Kem and successfully got herself elected as Chief of State of the Galactic Alliance. However, her remaining avatar bodies were killed, and she was then destroyed by Luke Skywalker and Darth Krayt in the realm of Beyond shadows. Despite her death, Luke and the Jedi were not convinced Abeloth was dead for good and thus began viktor krum and hermione searching for the planet Mortis. Luke intended to locate and obtain the same dagger used to kill The Ones decades earlier during his father’s encounter with them, to ensure that if Abeloth eventually returned, the Jedi would have a way to kill her permanently. Also, she was nearly overcome by Vol when she attacked his dreams and he fought back with Mind Shards and insults.
