And as James goes into detail about the nature of our minds and the way we connect to each other, he also points out that we don’t have any control over the things that go into our minds. We just have to learn to be aware of our own thoughts and feelings. I feel like I’m not the best example of his thinking here, because I am not a part of his world. I am part of his story, and I am not aware of him, I think.

If you are feeling something, you should feel something, but most of us are not aware that we are feeling anything at all. Many of us seem to think that pain and suffering are just natural parts of life, like the sun and the rain falling. They should be. They are.
No, they are not. They are a symptom. If you’re not aware of this, you’re living in denial. We feel pain on a daily basis, but most of us don’t know how to treat it. We don’t know what to do with it, and we don’t even know how to feel.
The human body is designed to feel pain, and it has a wide variety of symptoms that we can feel, like a fever, that we can treat with medicine, like a migraine, that we can control with medicine, and that we can feel in our hearts.
